We were fortunate enough to be invited to a special performance of the new Robbee Williams show recently. This was a private affair with about 250 of his closest friends and British Ex‐Pats.
No big sets or fancy lighting required for this entertainer, although the stage was presented extremely well which is a trademark we have become used to from Mike and his production crew.
This guy is just pure personality and stage presence. He opened predictably with "let me entertain you" and then proceeded to sing all the old favourites such as "Love Supreme", "Millennium", "No regrets", "She’s the one" and" Me and My Monkey". He really does have a stunning voice and it sounded beautiful in the slow songs, and the British accent just makes the memories come flooding back every time he opened his mouth.
During the whole show Robbee was just one big tease… He kept putting his hands down his pants, although he didn't do the ritual pants down thing and show his ass (maybe later) …every girl in the crowd was loving it. He sure is a show pony and he knows how to do it well, very very well. The whole show was full of little gags, with Robbee being very cheeky and pulling the piss out of anything and everything. By the time he played "Rock DJ" the whole crowd was standing and waving their arms. We thought the show had officially finished and he reappeared to the most amazing version of kids I have heard. During kids he introduced a special guest in the form of Kylee, none of us saw this coming ‐ this is apparently now offered as a special tease to those shows booking between now and 2010.
He ended with "Angels" which has been reworked; as had many of the songs, by his musical director Mike Hammond. After the show I only heard rave reviews. Every girl was saying they wanted to be with him and every guy was saying they wanted to be him! I was actually surprised at the amount of guys that went to the show. I even heard one guy say that if he was going to change sides – it would be Robbee who would turn him! Wicked show and one I won’t forget! Can’t wait to see him again!!
